Bagpipe Polishing Kit

This kit includes all the essentials for polishing your bagpipes. The polishing compounds included will bring the wood and metalwork back to a brilliant shine whilst also providing protection against the elements.

Renaissance Wax was formulated in the early 1950’s to conserve museum exhibits that otherwise would have been spoiled by commercial natural waxes available at the time, which contained acids. This can be applied to any type of bagpipe wood to provide a natural lustre and protection.

Bagpipe Metal Polish and Sealant gives a lustrous shine and provides ongoing protection against atmospheric corrosion – but, unlike many metal polishes, it is non-abrasive and does not damage the metal or the wood. Only the smallest amount is required for perfect results. It can be used on all types of bagpipe metal mounts including silver, nickel, antique nickel, brass and alloys.

The kit also includes a cotton cloth to apply the polishing compounds, microfibre brushes for applying the wax to the combs and intricate parts of the external parts of the wood and a microfibre cloth for polishing.

Maintaining and cleaning bagpipes is an important part of playing the instrument due to moisture build up and the affects it has on the wood and reeds. This kit includes all the items in the basic kit plus chanter tape for tuning, corks for checking the bag is airtight and oil for nourishing and protecting Blackwood.

MaxiStick Blowpipe

The MaxiStick is a precision made blowpipe available in a range of sizes from 8 inches to 12 inches. It has a large bore to allow maximum airflow into the pipe bag. The new design incorporates a smaller projecting mount available in black or imitation ivory colour.

The mouthpiece is threaded with a 30TPI thread onto the body which accomodates all mouthpieces included in the range of bagpipes from R.G. Hardie and is commonly used by other bagpipe makers.

The MaxiStick has an integral valve assembly which will allow the valve to be replaced when necessary. To access the valve unscrew the hemp part below the projection mount. We recommend smearing Vaseline on the valve
for a better seal.

AdjustiStick Blowpipe

The AdjustiStick is a precision made blowpipe that extends from 8 inches to 12 inches allowing the player to extend the blowpipe to the preferred length for a more comfortable playing position. The new design incorporates a smaller porjecting mount available in black or imitation ivory colour.

It has a number of component parts with
which you should become familiar:

Integral valve assembly:- unscrew to replace valve. We recommend smearing Vaseline on the valve for a better seal. Insert blowpipe into the stock in a clockwise direction to avoid loosening the valve assembly.

Telescopic tube: – loosen locknut and extend to preferred position then tighten firmly. Two different lengths of tube are provided to achieve the desired length. Unscrew locknut to remove the tube. The mouthpiece and locknut should
both be removed to change the tube.

Oval Mouthpiece:- A second option to the more traditional round mouthpiece. Both mouthpieces are threaded onto the telescopic tube.

FlexiStick Blowpipe

The FlexiStick is a precision made blowpipe that extends from 8 inches to 12 inches. It has a swivel joint which allows the player to angle the blowpipe for a more comfortable playing position. The new design incorporates a smaller projecting mount available in black or imitation ivory colour.

It has a number of component parts with which you should become familiar:

Integral valve assembly:- unscrew to replace valve. We recommend smearing Vaseline on the valve for a better seal. Insert blowpipe into the stock in a clockwise direction to avoid loosening the valve assembly.

Swivel Joint:- loosen swivel cover and adjust to favoured position, then tighten firmly.
