Now that the dust from a busy and wonderful few weeks has settled, R. G. Hardie & Co are delighted to share that three of our team members took home the top prize from the recent World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.

Pipers Lucy Ferguson, Jonathan Lamberton and Alastair Dunn are all part of the champion Grade One band, Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band, when they hoisted the famous ‘Spike’ trophy on Saturday, 18 August 2018.

It was a special win in particular for Lucy, who joined FMM in 2017 and for whom 2018 was her first World’s win.

“Almost all of R. G. Hardie & Co’s staff play bagpipes, with some in competing Grade One bands, so we have a friendly rivalry at work and discuss performances throughout the year,” said Alastair. “It was a great feeling to win another World’s for me personally. It was made more special in sharing it with Johnny and Lucy, along with helping P/M Richard Parkes MBE achieve his 12th win to match the record set by a single Pipe Major.”

R. G. Hardie & Co has sponsored Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band since 2006, during which the band has won eight World Championships. The band’s full uniform is supplied by R. G. Hardie & Co, and band members assist us with product development and testing. Several sets of R. G. Hardie & Co bagpipes feature in the pipe corps.

Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band’s latest CD, IMPACT – Live at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall 2016, can be purchased from the band’s website or downloaded/streamed from all major online music retailers, including Apple Music and Spotify.
